Omni Parker Hotel, Boston, Day 1

We arrived in Boston early yesterday. This entire week has been unseasonably cool and rainy, but I’m not complaining. I’ve always wanted to experience a cool week in New England. If the leaves were autumn colors, that’d be just perfect.

The early part of our day was spent at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The teens were only entertained for the first couple of rooms. After that, we pretty much lost their interest. I guess Monet, Degas, and Van Gogh just aren’t their thing. Lou and I loved seeing room after room of history–some of it ancient, like Egyptian funerary arts. (Have I mentioned that I love Anubis? He’s so cool.)

We grabbed lunch at a fast-food Mexican place near the museum and headed to the Omni Parker house. The hotel doesn’t have parking, but apparently, we are supposed to get a discount at the local parking garage when we leave. I don’t plan to move my car until we are packed and ready to leave Boston. Parking in the city is a bear I am not prepared to wrestle with.

So far, the Omni Parker House feels much like any other hotel, with the exception of being a bit fancier and, of course, more Bostonian. I haven’t gotten any ghosty vibes the way I did at the Hawthorne. Fae and I plan to explore the hotel a bit more thoroughly later, so we’ll see if that changes.
